Food!

My first "crazy craving" was for a strawberry shake and raspberry iced tea, it was 2:00am and Mike took off and came back with both because he's amazing like that. We shared the shake and I have enjoyed many a raspberry iced tea since.

Daddy was on a straight chicken wing craving the whole first trimester haha! Now we both really just want some major sushi boat action, he is also abstaining from sushi(voluntarily) because he knows how much I want a spicy tuna and albacore roll with a nice cold bottle of Sapporo and can't have it.

My second carving was for some fish ceviche but of course, since i can't have raw fish, I called mike and had him buy like $60.00 worth of groceries for some authentic Guatemalan shrimp ceviche, yuuum!

Belly...

Photobucket

This is my belly at 20 weeks, I am now 21 weeks... it still looks the same.

I am starting to feel more tummy pain in the mornings and nights now, probably because the baby is getting bigger/heavier and my stomach still has a lot of growing to do!

We talk to him every night and I talk to him when he moves during the day and probably look like a crazy person, but hey? my boy is putting on a show! haha.

Also, we have come up with Noah as the babys' name so I'm going to start calling him Noah, we're still working on a middle name though.

Growing

Photobucket

8 weeks, that explosion looking scenario on the left is my ovary from which I ovulated, and the Baby is head down feet up.. I know it's hard to make out. Also the reason why the amniotic sac looks like a long smiley is because they take your first ultrasound vaginally and it's a lot of pressure, or at least it was for my uterus. Very uncomfortable.

PU 12 WEEKS

12 weeks, officially a Fetus!

pu2 20 weeks

Major life-change

We're having a baby! On January 21st Mike and I found out we were expecting our first child, we're very excited and can't wait to meet him/her!

We are enjoying our first pregnancy, it's been good to me, no morning sickness, thank G-d. Sometimes I get a sharp pain on my lower abdomen (round ligament pain) It's nothing major, goes away quick and usually happens at night.

We had our first prenatal visit on 2/3/09 on my 8th week. We got our first picture and heard its heartbeat. I cried. We also went through a genetic screening, the doctor asks you a few questions to determine if you and your partner have anything genetic that is persistent to certain ethnic groups that might be a concern with the baby. The baby comes from Sephardic stock but if you are Ashkenazi you should be informed on some genetic persistencies.

We also took this opportunity to talk about diet, did I really have to give up sushi? Well, I was hoping that since my doctor is Asian that she would laugh and say something like, no, it's totally healthy, sushi boat away! But no.

Our second visit was on 2/25/09 for my 12th week check up, we got out second picture and the Nuchal Translucency test. The NT test checks the fetus for a nasal bone, collection of fluid behind the neck (both though ultrasound) and checks the mothers' blood and urine for hormones that "predict" the chances of a baby having a chromosomal disorder. The doctor informed us that no test were required because we're still young, but even though they let you know it is not "required" you feel like you have to take them all because you worry about your baby and any reassurance that it's okay feels necessary. Our NT results were negative; we are very thankful and relieved.

On March 24th we had our 16th week visit, no ultrasound but we did hear the babys’ heartbeat, they weighed me, I had lost another 3lbs.

We have our 20th week/anatomy ultrasound on the 21st, I really hope we can get a clear picture of the baby and find out what we’re having!
